15 December 2018 – It has been more than a year since Jessica and Wei-peng’s wedding. Yes, I am a little embarrassed to be only blogging about it now, no thanks to procrastination. However, memories of the wedding day are still vivid in my mind. Not because of the grandeur of it, but the authenticity of this couple and the genuine love they have for the people (and dogs) around them.
There was no raucous gate crash in the morning, just a simple but heart-warming toast at the bride’s house with her immediate family before the couple met at church. When I was first getting to know Jess and WP so I could better help them coordinate the wedding, I had them filled up a questionnaire. In it I asked which three things or places would they think of when they hear the word “beautiful”. Jess’s response was Prince and Pablo (her two lovely dogs) and Miguel, her 7-year old nephew. Since it would be difficult to bring along their furry friends to their special day (Prince is in Aussie, while Pablo is at home in Singapore), the couple made a life-size standee of her dogs so that they could be a part of the wedding. What a brilliant idea isn’t it!
After their Holy Matrimony ceremony at Church, Jess and WP visited the place they used to paktor – McDonalds at East Coast Park. To congratulate them, the outlet manager even gifted them cheeseburgers! But yes, I love it when couples want to incorporate their memories and stories into their wedding day. Doesn’t it just makes it more wholesome and also uniquely them?
The dinner reception at Mandarin Orchard was also intimate and affecting. Based abroad, Jess and WP specially flew back to Singapore for their wedding. They wanted a light-hearted ambience so that they could mingle and catch-up with their guests both local and overseas. Jess also wanted to surprise WP with a song (she rewrote the lyrics to Taylor Swift’s Love Story) but she was too stage-shy. She ended up singing from the AV room and left WP and all the guests wondering when she would make a grand entrance to the door!
The night wrapped up beautifully as the couple took some shots along the Christmas-lighted Orchard road. Thank you Jess and WP, we are so grateful to be your wedding coordination team!
